What type of shrimp have been called "sea locusts" by the ancient Assyrians, "prawn killers" in Australia, and now sometimes "thumb splitters"? In 1998, this type of shrimp (technically a stomatopod named Tyson, ironically) demonstrated that it has the world's fastest punch, which has been clocked at up to 50 miles per hour, and can accelerate through the water at up to 10,000 times the force of gravity.
